Olivia Lycan is a commercial pilot looking for exciting and challenging new experiences in the aviation world.
She began her aviation career in 2009 at Central Washington University, achieving fixed-wing Private and Commercial pilot’s licenses along with Instrument and Multi-Engine ratings. In addition to a course of study in aviation, she majored in Physics and minored in Mathematics.
Olivia’s first commercial aviation job was as a Fire Watch Pilot during the 2014 fire season in Washington State. Due to industry challenges for commercial pilots at the time Olivia then began a course of study at the University of North Dakota in 2014, majoring in Chemistry and German, and minoring in Biology.
After a pause living abroad for several years with family she returned to the United States in 2018 to fly again as a Fire Watch Pilot during the 2018 wildfire season in Washington State. After this she completed Certified Flight Instructor training in 2019 and Certified Flight Instructor Instrument training in 2020. In addition Olivia holds Advanced Ground Instructor and Instrument Ground Instructor certificates. Her endorsements include complex, tailwheel, and high performance.
Olivia is nearing the qualification for her Airline Transport Pilot’s license with 1,150 hours total time. She has over 400 hours of time in flight instruction, 450 hours of cross-country time, and 880 hours as Pilot in Command.
Her aviation interests include mountain flying and floatplane flying, having taught courses in the former and received floatplane instruction, nearing completion of a Commercial Single Engine Sea certificate.
Olivia is not building time for a career in the airlines and is instead more interested in challenging and novel opportunities to increase her skills as an aviator. Her major goal apart from achieving Part 121 qualification is to become an Airframe and Powerplant Technician.
